The Federal Parastatals and Private Sector Pensioners Association of Nigeria (FEPPPAN) has urged President Bola Tinubu to pay outstanding subsidy-removal palliatives and address delays in pension-related entitlements.

The association called on the President to direct the payment of three months’ outstanding N25,000 relief payments for vulnerable citizens, amounting to N75,000 per beneficiary.

The demands were contained in a communiqué issued after FEPPPAN’s National Executive Council meeting in Abuja and signed by its President-General, Elder Benjamin Maisamari Amako, and General Secretary, Franklin Erinle.

The association also expressed concern over the implementation of pension harmonisation, which it said took effect in January 2026, and called for the release of the government circular guiding the exercise.

It urged the authorities to clarify the role of the Pension Transitional Arrangement Directorate (PTAD) and explain how the policy would affect retirees, insisting that harmonisation should lead to increased monthly pensions for all beneficiaries.

FEPPPAN further appealed to self-funding organisations, including aviation agencies, to harmonise the pensions of their retirees.

To address complaints and improve service delivery, the association called for regular consultations between PTAD and pensioners’ representatives.

It proposed a structured engagement system involving regular meetings, proper documentation of complaints, tracking of unresolved cases and timely updates on their resolution.

The association also urged PTAD to improve communication on pension payments, outstanding entitlements, pension records, healthcare enrolment and other administrative issues affecting retirees.

It called for clear guidelines on accessing pension services and resolving complaints, particularly for elderly, sick and physically incapacitated pensioners who may require additional assistance.

On the planned relaunch of the ‘I Am Alive’ pension verification platform, FEPPPAN urged PTAD to introduce safeguards to prevent eligible pensioners from being excluded.

It stressed the need for effective communication and adequate support to ensure retirees could complete the verification process without unnecessary difficulties.

The association, however, commended Tinubu for the timely payment of monthly pensions to retirees under the Defined Benefit Scheme.

It urged the President to sustain the regular payment of pension entitlements and ensure that beneficiaries continued to receive their payments promptly and without interruption.
