The Peoples Democratic Party says Governor Dave Umahi of Ebony State was deceived into joining the ruling All Progressives Congress.
Inaugurating the newly constituted Caretaker committee of the PDP in Ebonyi State, in Abuja, National Chairman of PDP Uche Secondus, represented by the Deputy National Chairman North, Senator Suleiman Nazif said the governor was deceived to believe that he will get the presidential ticket for coming general election in 2023.
Nazif further alleged that the APC was bent on entrenching their party and it's bad governance in the southeast against the wish of the people saying the PDP will not allow such to happen as it has resolved to bring about people-oriented governance in the country.
He assured that the PDP remained the party to beat in Ebonyi State and the South-East, with or without the governor.
The elders and leaders of the party in the state chapter led by Frank Ogbuewu assured that they will work closely with the just inaugurated committee to move the party forward in the state.
The party, however, applauded the leaders of the party and members of the NWC for their timely intervention to repositioning the party.
