There are emerging indicators that threat to sustainable democracy in Nigeria is subtly intensifying as the Attorney General of the Federation, AGF, and the Minister of Justice, Lateef Olasunkanmi Fagbemi SAN, approached the Federal High Court to deregister the African Democratic Congress, ADC, and others, which include Accord Party, AP; Action Alliance, AA; Action Peoples Party, APP; and Zenith Labour Party, ZLP.

The Minister predicated his deregistration suit perceived "non-compliance with electoral regulations". Apparently, the AGF is seeking the deleting of the five political parties from the register of the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC. There are concerns, therefore, that the plot may be targeted to eliminate strong opponents from the 2027 presidential race.
