NECO Releases 2016 BECE Examination Results

The National Examinations Council, NECO, has released the results of the 2026 Basic Education Certificate Examination, BECE.

The Acting Director of Information and Public Relations, Azeez Sani, in a statement, indicated that a total of 186,291 candidates registered for the examination in 12 subjects.

He noted that the candidates were drawn from the 36 states of the federation, the Federal Capital Territory, and five foreign countries.

The examination commenced on April 20 and ended on April 30, 2026.

The results were released following the successful conclusion of the 2026 BECE Award Committee Meeting, held at NECO headquarters, Minna, Niger State.

Chairperson of the Award Committee and Director of Basic Education at the Federal Ministry of Education, Dr. Folake Olatunji David, representing the Minister of Education, Dr. Maruf Tunji Alausa, expressed satisfaction with the processes leading to the release of the results.

The meeting was attended by secondary school principals from across the country and members of NECO management.

The Award Committee also approved July 22 and 23, 2026, for the conduct of the BECE Re-sit Examination in Mathematics and English Studies.

The re-sit examination is for candidates with conditional deficiencies in Mathematics, English Studies, or both, and is intended to help them obtain the required certification for admission and placement into Senior Secondary School One, SSS1, without repeating a full academic year.
