The campaign organisation of Oyo State Governor Seyi Makinde has vowed to defeat President Bola Tinubu in 12 states during the January 2027 presidential election, citing public dissatisfaction with the Federal Government’s policies.

The Makinde-Daura Presidential Campaign Organisation said the states included Oyo, Kaduna, Rivers, Plateau, Borno, Enugu, Bauchi, Sokoto, Delta, Kano, Adamawa and Lagos, as well as the Federal Capital Territory (FCT).

In a statement by its Director of Strategic Communications, Richard Nnanna Ihediwa, the organisation said Tinubu’s planned campaign visits to the states would not change voters’ resolve to reject his re-election bid.

Makinde is the organisation’s candidate under the Allied Peoples Movement.

The campaign accused the Tinubu administration of worsening economic hardship and criticised what it described as wasteful spending and poor infrastructure.

It challenged the President to travel by road through the states to assess the condition of federal highways and the living conditions of Nigerians.

The organisation also dismissed the administration’s Renewed Hope Agenda, claiming that Makinde’s proposed RESET Nigeria programme offered a more practical response to the country’s challenges.

According to the campaign, the programme would focus on four priority areas: education, the economy, security and socio-political reforms.

It said the economic plan would seek to reduce poverty through increased production, while its security strategy would combine intelligence gathering with military and non-military measures.

The proposed education policy would expand access to quality education, while institutional reforms would promote inclusive governance and responsible leadership, the organisation added.

The campaign said its field operations suggested that the RESET Nigeria message was gaining support, particularly among young people seeking an alternative to the current administration.

It also criticised Tinubu’s campaign council, arguing that its members lacked the political strength to secure his re-election.

The organisation, however, did not provide polling data or other independent evidence to support its prediction that Makinde would defeat Tinubu in the 12 states.

It maintained that neither the President’s campaign machinery nor the advantages of incumbency would prevent its candidate from winning in 2027.
