The Federal High Court sitting in Abuja has fixed November 19, 2026, for judgment in a suit challenging the APC primary that produced Yahaya Bello as its Kogi Central senatorial candidate.
The suit was filed by APC aspirant Momoh Yusuf Obaro, who is challenging the outcome of the primary.
The Independent National Electoral Commission had declared Yahaya Bello as the winner of the election with over 70,000 votes.
At the resumed hearing of the suit on Monday, counsel adopted all relevant processes in the matter.
However, counsel to the plaintiff, Yusuf Obaro, pleaded for an extension of time to respond to the counter-affidavit by the defendant, a request which the defendant objected to, saying the matter is time-sensitive, being an election matter.
The court, therefore, suspended ruling on the matter and decided to take all the processes together.
On his part, the defendant, through his counsel, is objecting to the jurisdiction of the court for several reasons, some of which the court has conceded to.
The court will, on November 19, 2026, decide the authentic candidate of the All Progressives Congress for Kogi Central between former Governor Yahaya Bello and Momoh Yusuf Obaro.
