A frontline leader in the Nigeria Democratic Congress, NDC, Engr. Rabi'u Musa Kwankwaso, may have endorsed former Deputy Governor Aminu Abdussalam of Kano State, as NDC consensus governorship candidate in the State.

Former Deputy Governor Aminu Abdussalam resigned from office after he rejected defecting to the All Progressives Congress, APC, with incumbent Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf.

He insisted on his alliance and loyalty to the Kwankwasiyya Movement led by Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso.

The choice of the former deputy governor at a closed-door consultative meeting, conversely eliminated the other governorship aspirant, Nasiru Yusuf Gawuna.

Gawuma was offered the deputy governor slot, or in exchange for senatorial ticket to represent Kano Central Senatorial District. Gawuna rejected both offers but assured of his loyalty and cooperation in the Kwankwasiyya Movement.
