One of the top contending aspirants in the Imo gubernatorial race in 2019, Mr. Ejike Chukwu has emerged the candidate of the African Democratic Congress (ADC).

Ejike who went into the contest with other three aspirants was announced the consensus candidate of the party by the national electoral officer after several hours of deliberation.

According to the state chairman of the party, Barrister Ignatius Nlem, their mandate is to ensure that the party takes power in the coming election for the general good of the people of the Imo state and the country at large, and that inform their decision to put the best candidate forward.

Speaking shortly after declaring the consensus candidate, the chairman of the electoral committee for the party's primaries in Imo state, Chief Paul Umennsofor said the candidature of Ejike was a unanimous decision arrived at by the national officials of the party and the state working committee.

Reacting to his emergence as the party's candidate, Ejike said he is overwhelmed by the level of confidence bestowed on him by officials and members of the party; he promised to keep to the party's vision which is to better the lives of the people of Imo state through the delivery of good governance if voted into power.

It would be recalled that Ejike elicited the ambition in the All Progressive Congress (APC) but defected to ADC owning to the numerous crisis in the APC in the state.
