Ogun State Governor Dapo Abiodun has urged his new commissioners to accelerate the delivery of government projects and programmes as his administration enters its final phase.
Abiodun gave the charge on Monday in Abeokuta while swearing in Olayemi Sanusi and Adenike Ademokun as commissioners, urging them to focus on unfinished priorities and ensure that government policies translate into tangible benefits for residents.
The governor said the appointments came at a critical time, with important responsibilities still to be fulfilled before the end of his administration.
He urged the commissioners to familiarise themselves with ongoing projects, understand the administration’s priorities and bring fresh ideas and sound judgement to their respective assignments.
Abiodun also stressed the need for continuity in governance, advising the appointees to maintain proper records, preserve institutional knowledge and ensure that ongoing projects were completed.
He called on them to manage public resources prudently, remain accessible to residents and demonstrate integrity, fairness and humility in the discharge of their duties.
“Public confidence grows when citizens can see that those they entrusted with leadership understand their needs and act to address them,” he said.
The governor further urged the commissioners to work closely with public servants and other members of the State Executive Council, noting that effective collaboration was essential to achieving the administration’s objectives.
Describing the remaining months of his tenure as the final lap, Abiodun said the period required urgency, discipline and political maturity.
He added that the performance of public office holders would ultimately be judged by the problems they solved and the opportunities they created for the people.
Responding on behalf of the new commissioners, Ademokun thanked the governor for the appointments and pledged their commitment to the administration’s development agenda.
She assured residents that the commissioners would contribute their best towards sustaining development and improving welfare across the state.
