The Adamawa State Youth Christian Movement for Change (ADSYCMC) has declared support for Abdulrahman Haske, governorship candidate of the Allied Peoples Movement (APM), ahead of the 2027 election.
Mr Bitrus Tanies, Public Relations Officer (PRO) of the group, announced the decision at a news conference on Thursday in Yola.
Tanies said the decision followed consultations, prayers and assessment of aspirants seeking to govern the state.
He said the group comprised Christian youths drawn from churches and Christian communities across the 21 Local Government Areas (LGAs) of the state.
According to him, the group’s decision was based on Haske’s track record, capacity, character, business experience and humanitarian activities.
“We have followed with keen interest the political trajectory and philanthropic records of this hardworking and dynamic leader.
“His involvement in grassroots politics and efforts to build the party while seeking the governorship ticket under the All Progressives Congress (APC) are commendable,” he said.
Tanies said the group also considered Haske’s activities in business, youth empowerment and humanitarian services.
He said the organisation viewed Haske as a leader who promoted inclusion and related with people irrespective of their ethnic or religious backgrounds.
“Adamawa needs a healer, not a divider. We have found in Haske a lover of humanity and a compassionate leader,” he said.
Tanies said the group believed Haske would promote peaceful coexistence and equitable distribution of development opportunities if elected governor.
He said the movement would mobilise support for Haske across the state ahead of the 2027 governorship election.
Tanies said the group would take its message to worship centres and Christian communities across the 226 wards of Adamawa.
He called on Christian youths, parents and other residents who shared the group’s development agenda to join the movement.
Haske, who previously sought the APC governorship ticket, joined the APM on Sept. 12 and emerged as the party’s candidate for the 2027 Adamawa governorship election.
