Rivers gov condemns proposed amnesty

 The Rivers state government has condemned the suspected Federal Government proposed amnesty for the 32 criminals declared wanted in Rivers state.



This was disclosed to journalist in a press briefing by the Commissioner for Information and Communication, Emma Okah at the Rivers state Government House, Port Harcourt.

  Okah said some officials and agencies of the Federal Government are frustrating the fight against violent crimes and criminality in Rivers state.

He continued that the receipt of the credible intelligence by the Rivers state government to the effect that, the federal government has concluded plans to grant amnesty to the 32 cultists who were declared wanted by the security council of Rivers state will not be accepted by the state government.

 The commissioner emphasisied that the 32 cultists mentioned by the Rivers state security council still remain wanted.

He however, tasked security agencies to discharge their duties to maintain further peace in state.
