INEC Assures Hitch Free Bye-Election In Bayelsa

The Independence National Electoral Commission INEC in Bayelsa State says the Commission is set to conduct the rerun election this Saturday February 3rd 2024, for the Yenagoa Constituency 2 seat in the Bayelsa State House of Assembly, in seven units and four wards.


This was made known by the state Resident Electoral Commissioner Barrister Obo Effanga, during a stakeholders meeting at the INEC headquarters in Yenagoa the state capital.

The REC said the commission is only obeying the court judgment that set aside the march 2023 state assembly election that saw the candidate of APGA declared winner.

Barrister Effanga, assured stakeholders that necessary arrangement have been put in place to ensure the peaceful conduct of the election.


Also speaking, the Bayelsa State Commissioner of Police Frank Idu, stressed that security will be provided during this Saturday re-run election, as he called on eligible voters to come out and take part in the process.
