Flood attacks community in Delta

In less than 48 hours after the Delta state government warned residents against flood prone areas, at least fifty houses have been submerged at the Agalope community in Okpe local government area of Delta state, after a heavy downpour that lasted four days.

Some residents, who were seen relocating in the early hours of Wednesday, August 9, after the rain had subsides, could not move with their personal belongings as a result of the water level.

Arriving the community to ascertain the level of havoc caused by the flooding, the council chairman Hon. Godwin Ejiyere said it was unexpected.

Some displaced community residents appealed to the state government for urgent intervention as the council chairman assure residents of a lasting solution.

Meanwhile, displaced community residents are now taking refuge at the state secretariat with the council chairman, pending when palliative measures would be put in place by the state government.
