Constitution amendment good for democracy- Senator

A member of the National Assembly, representing Oyo South Senatorial District, Sojo Akanbi says the move by the Lawmakers to amend some aspects of the constitution is aimed at strengthening democratic institutions in the country. Speaking with Journalists in Ibadan during an empowerment programme organised by a member of the Oyo State House of Assembly, Hon. Segun Olaleye, Akanbi stressed that the exercise is also tailored towards restoring people’s confidence in the present administration at making things better for the country. Correspondent Kunle Ojo reported that the lawmakers who maintained that the present lawmakers in the house may not be the one to conclude the exercise added that a good precedence has already been laid by the National Assembly. On the initiative, Hon. Segun Olaleye stated that lawmakers are not only expected to make laws and motions that will have direct benefits on the people but also to empower them in order to spread the dividends of democracy. He charged residents of the state to continue to support the vision and and mission of the present administration which according to him is to improve the socio-economic status of the state.
