Atiku accuses state govts of diversion of education funds

Nigeria’s former Vice President, Atiku Abubakar says underfunding of the education sector is a massive problem that the present Nigerian government led by Muhammadu Buhari does not seem to be giving the desired priority.

Mr. Abubakar made this submission Thursday at the National Assembly during the public hearing on the Modibbo Adama University of Technology [MAUTECH] Yola, Establishment Bill.

The PDP presidential candidate at the recently held polls accused State governors of diversion of funds meant for education.

Atiku Abubakar said the shortage of infrastructure to match the growing demand for tertiary education in the country is a big disaster.

The one-day Public Hearing was organized by the Senate Committee on Tertiary Education Trust Fund or TETFund.
