400,000 Households Benefit From EU's Support And Funding

400,000 Households Benefit From EU's Support And Funding

Over 40,000 households in Taraba State have benefited from the European Union agric support and funding under the Food Security and Resilience in Taraba, Northern Nigeria, PROSELL, project.

This is part of the drive to make farmers more productive amidst economic challenges in the country.
Country Director, Oxfam in Nigeria, Tijani Ahmed disclosed this at the PROSELL projects close-out review meeting held in Abuja , Monday.

Ahmed stated that OXFAM and other partners embarked on the journey with a commitment to reduce poverty, enhance food and nutrition security, address gender inequality, and build resilience against the numerous challenges faced by rural citizens.
Ahmed stressed that, the project has been a beacon of change, resilience, and empowerment in The rural communities of Taraba State.

Explaining that the projects have resulted in impressive outcomes, the Country Director said , a notable 83.2% increase in livelihood assets within households, enhanced production in livestock and fish value chains for 82.1% of farmers, a significant 55% of women experiencing increased access to resources and control over assets and the empowerment of 35% of farmers, particularly women, contributing to improved livelihoods have been part of achievements during the project implementation.

Some of the partners present at the meeting, stated that the aim of the project is to make impactful difference in people especially those that have have abandoned and marginalized.

They also highlighted that the projects have impacted on over 40,000 households whose livelihood rely on agriculture and natural resource base activities.
