30 killed, 10 injured along Lagos-Ibadan express way

30 killed, 10 injured along Lagos-Ibadan express way

No fewer than 30 persons lost their lives while 10 others were injured in a motor accident that occurred along Lagos-lbadan express way around 8pmThursday night.

 


Confirming the incident to our correspondent on telephone today, the Oyo State Head of Operations, Federal Road Safety Commission (FRSC) Cyril Mathew, said the accident hapened at about 8:30pm on Thursday night as a result over speeding.


Mathew said the accident involved two 18-seater buses, one heading to Lagos from lbadan and other was coming from Lagos to Ibadan before having an head-on collision with each other at a construction site along lbadan-lagos express way close to South energy.

He revealed that the bus coming from Lagos was over speeding and overtook a truck and could not return to the normal lane.

He added that the bus ran through a construction site where the road was completely blocked  and rammed into the bus heading to Lagos from lbadan.



The head of operation said that the injured had been taken to the lbadan central hospital while the deceased deposited at Adeoyo Hospital, ring road.

According to him, the 10 injured include nine male adults and one female adult while the dead comprises of 20 male adults and 10 female adults.
