The Nigerian military has killed 15 suspected Boko Haram terrorists in an airstrike near Pulka, Borno State, as ground troops recovered several AK-47 rifles in the area.

The operation was carried out by the air component of Operation Hadin Kai at about 11.50pm on October 23, following intelligence reports and confirmed sightings of terrorist movements around Pulka.

The task force’s acting Media Information Officer, Captain Mohammed Goni, disclosed this in a statement issued in Maiduguri on Sunday.

He said the precision airstrike was followed by ground operations in the Bitta-Dute axis of Gwoza Local Government Area to consolidate the gains and exploit the targeted area.

According to Goni, the operation demonstrates the impact of intelligence-led targeting and coordinated military action in disrupting terrorist movements and weakening their operational capabilities.

He added that troops would sustain the offensive against insurgents to prevent them from threatening communities across the North-East.

The Theatre Command urged residents to continue providing security agencies with timely and credible information about suspicious movements and activities.

It said cooperation between troops and civilians remained vital to sustaining military gains and restoring peace and socio-economic activities in affected communities.
