In Sokoto State, troops of Sector 2 raided a suspected terrorist hideout around Karani village in Gudu Local Government Area following intelligence on terrorist activities in the area.
The troops engaged the terrorists after making contact, killing one suspected terrorist while others escaped into the surrounding forest.
An AK-47 rifle loaded with live ammunition, an operational motorcycle, military camouflage uniforms, maintenance tools and other logistical supplies were recovered from the hideout.
The troops subsequently launched clearance operations in the surrounding forest to prevent the fleeing terrorists from regrouping.
In Zamfara State, troops of 17 Brigade under the same operation foiled a kidnapping attempt in Tsafe Local Government Area after receiving reports of an ongoing attack.
The troops engaged the armed terrorists, forcing them to flee and abandon six members of the same family who had been targeted.
The victims were rescued unharmed and taken to a safe location for care before being reunited with their relatives.
The operations form part of ongoing military efforts under Operation Fansan Yamma to disrupt terrorist networks, prevent kidnappings and deny armed groups freedom of movement across the North-West.
