Speaking at the Unveiling of the document in Abuja, TCN Managing Director/Chief Executive Officer, Engr. Sule Ahmed Abdulaziz, represented by the Executive Director, Human Resources and Corporate Services, Mrs. Abiodun Afolabi-Fadahunsi, described the policy as a major step towards reinforcing the company’s commitment to ethical standards and zero tolerance for corruption.
Abdulaziz said TCN’s credibility depended not only on its achievements but also on the manner in which those achievements were attained.
He therefore urged employees to familiarise themselves with the provisions of the policy and ensure that its principles were reflected in their daily decisions and official responsibilities.
The TCN chief commended the ACTU and other stakeholders involved in developing the document, noting that the policy was designed not only to prevent corruption but also to promote honesty, fairness, transparency, accountability and professionalism within the company.
He called on staff to support its effective implementation and uphold the principles contained in the document.
Earlier, Chairman of TCN ACTU, Mrs. E. Benibo, said the unveiling represented more than the presentation of a policy document, describing it as a demonstration of the collective commitment of management and staff to strengthening integrity and accountability.
Benibo noted that corruption weakens institutions, erodes public trust and leads to the waste of valuable resources.
Also speaking, the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC) representative and ACTU Desk Officer attached to TCN, Mrs. Monsurat Ajoke Ifeajika, provided an overview of the policy.
Ifeajika said the document would help influence staff conduct, guide decision-making and strengthen institutional systems for combating corruption.
According to her, the policies provide clear guidance on the prevention, detection, reporting and response to unethical and corrupt practices.
The major highlight of the event was the formal unveiling of the TCN Anti-Corruption Policy Document, marking a renewed commitment by the company to institutionalising ethical conduct and accountability.
