In the same vein, the Chairman of the House Committee on Healthcare Institutions, Hon Amos Magaji, has emphasized the crucial role a functional healthcare system plays in reducing corruption in Nigeria.

During the 2025 budget defense in Abuja, the chairman pointed out that one of the major burdens on Nigerians is the difficulty in affording healthcare, and improved funding could alleviate this issue. He further commended the healthcare agencies for their efforts and promised to look into their funding requests; with an eye toward possible increases to better address the nation’s pressing health needs.

Earlier in their presentations, The National Primary Healthcare Development Agency (NPHCDA), led by Dr. Muyi Aina, advocated for increased funding in the 2025 budget to address the challenges of limited resources. The Nigeria Centre for Disease Control and Prevention (NCDC), represented by Dr. Jide Idris, highlighted the need for increased resources to manage ongoing disease outbreaks and strengthen the country’s preparedness.
