The Police, on surveillance operations, intercepted a consignment of 490 grams of hard drugs and cocaine, while recovering a firearm linked to an ongoing murder and Cultism investigation in Delta State.

The Police Public Relations Officer, PPRO, of the Delta State Command, Edafe Bright, in a statement indicated that operatives of Safer Highway Patrol, stationed along the Onicha-Ugbo/Ewohimi Road, intercepted a Sienna conveying passengers en-route to the northern part of the country.

A search operation, according to the PPRO, led to the arrest of the 47-year-old driver, Stephen Osuke, who confessed to the crime, with the illicit Drugs carefully concealed inside electric bulbs, as well as four grams of weeds and other substances.

In a related development, the Delta Police Special Assignment Team, on the same day, recovered one pump action gun with three rounds of live cartridges abandoned in the Delta community of Ekiugbo; connected to an earlier case involving three suspects who have been charged to court and remanded in prison for murder.
