The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Oyo State Command, on Wednesday, intercepted 70 Northerners for allegedly violating the ban on interstate travelling.

The travellers were intercepted inside three trucks at 12:52 am at Ogbomoso High School in Ogbomoso South Local Government area of Oyo State.

The state NSCDC Commandant, Iskilu Akinsanya said that those found inside the three trucks comprises of 69 males and a female while the trucks with registration number KBK 826 Kano, KTG 137 ZZ and AE61KKR are coming from Bauchi and Kastina.

The Commandant said that the trucks were heading towards Bodija in Oyo State and Alaba in Lagos State including the 10 motorcycles.

He said that men and officers of the corps have been deployed to the borders in the state to beef up security in order to checkmate the influx of people and prevent the spread of COVID 19.

Akinsanya warned all the illegal migrants from different states to stop coming to Oyo State or else they would face the full wrath of the law.

The Oyo State commandant has ordered the return of the trucks and the occupant back to where they are coming from and escorted to Kwara with Oyo State border.
