The Nigerian Navy has warned prospective applicants against paying money to individuals claiming to facilitate recruitment as it announced the opening of applications for its 2026 Batch 39 Basic Training School.
The recruitment exercise is scheduled to run from October 2 to October 31, 2026, with eligible candidates required to apply online through the Navy’s official recruitment portal.
The Navy, in its recruitment guidelines published on Monday, stressed that the entire process was free and warned applicants against falling victim to fraudsters.
“Online registration and other recruitment processes are free of charge and no payment should be made at any point to anyone throughout the Exercise,” it said.
The exercise is open to Nigerian citizens by birth who possess a National Identification Number and meet the prescribed educational, age, physical and medical requirements.
Applicants must be medically, psychologically and physically fit, have no previous criminal conviction and meet the minimum height requirement of 1.69 metres for males and 1.65 metres for females.
For candidates applying with O’Level qualifications, the Navy said applicants must be aged between 18 and 22 as of December 31, 2026.
They must also possess at least five credits, including Mathematics and English Language, in not more than two sittings.
The recruitment guidelines also contain separate age and qualification requirements for applicants with OND and NCE certificates, tradesmen, medical professionals and sportsmen and women.
Successful applicants are required to print their acknowledgement, parent or guardian consent, local government attestation and guarantor’s certification forms after completing their applications.
The Navy said the dates and venues for the recruitment examination would be communicated to applicants in due course.
It advised interested candidates to obtain further information from its recruitment portal when applications open on October 2.
The Navy also warned that each applicant must submit only one application, as multiple applications would lead to disqualification.
“Only a single valid application is permitted, multiple online applications shall be disqualified,” the guideline stated.
Applicants must also be able to communicate in basic English, with the Navy warning that inability to do so could result in disqualification at any stage of the recruitment process.
