The National Agency for the Prohibition of Trafficking in Persons (NAPTIP), Oyo State Command, has rescued two foreign nationals who were trafficked to Ibadan, Oyo State, following intelligence received from the Agency's Headquarters.
The victims, nationals of the Republic of Congo and the Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC), were allegedly lured to Nigeria with fake job offers by members of a suspected trafficking syndicate. Upon arrival in Ibadan, they were harboured in a hotel and subjected to threats and force, with the traffickers demanding and extorting money from their families back home.
Operatives of the Oyo State Command swung into action on Tuesday, September 8, 2026, and successfully rescued the victims. The Command provided them with temporary shelter before handing them over to the Oyo State Command of the Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS) for profiling and further necessary action.
NAPTIP said the suspected traffickers are currently at large, while investigation into the case continues.
