The protest against Iru Ekun, the security network established by Yoruba Nation activist Chief Sunday Igboho, is ongoing in Ibadan, the capital of Oyo State.
Iru Ekun has been recruiting young Yoruba men to ensure the safety of Yoruba land in Nigeria from banditry and kidnapping. The network has successfully dislodged some terrorists residing in forests across the Southwest of Nigeria.
However, the sponsors of the protest against the network allege that it is against Islam and the Fulani ethnic group in the country.
Their protest, dubbed One Million-Man Say No To Iru Ekun, was small, with no more than 20 people holding placards against the security outfit.
An inscription on one of the placards read: "Iru Ekun will divide us."
Days before the protest, those against their clamour against Iru Ekun wondered where their voices were when bandits were sacking villages, kidnapping women and children for ransome and also killing monarchs and innocent churchgoers.
