The Lagos State Emergency Management Agency (LASEMA) has contained a fire outbreak at Oke Arin, Mushin, and cleared a broken-down vehicle at 7UP Bus Stop in separate operations across the state.
LASEMA said its Alpha Eagle Team from Cappa Base responded to a distress call over the fire at No. 14, Oke Arin Street, Mushin, at about 1:26 pm on Tuesday.
The team arrived to find a room on the top floor of a storey building engulfed in flames.
Working with the LASEMA Response Unit Fire Team and the Lagos State Fire and Rescue Service, the responders contained and extinguished the fire before dampening the affected area to prevent it from spreading to neighbouring buildings.
The agency said the cause of the fire could not immediately be established, adding that no casualty was recorded.
In a separate operation, LASEMA said its Tiger Team from the Command and Control Centre responded to a broken-down Hyundai minibus at 7UP Bus Stop.
The vehicle, with registration number SMK 387XA, reportedly suffered battery failure opposite the Federal Road Safety Corps office, threatening traffic flow along the corridor.
The agency said its Lagos Response Team deployed a heavy-duty tow truck to recover the vehicle and moved it to the State House for safekeeping.
According to LASEMA, the operation restored traffic flow and helped avert a further obstruction on the busy route.
The Permanent Secretary of LASEMA, Dr Olufemi Damilola Oke-Osanyintolu, said the agency remained on high alert to respond to emergencies across Lagos.
He urged residents to observe safety guidelines and report emergencies through the toll-free lines 767 and 112.
