The Federal High Court in Abuja has admitted on bail all 12 associates of pro-Yoruba agitator Sunday Adeyemo popularly known as Igboho who were arrested after a raid on his Ibadan home.

Galaxy's Godfrey Eshiemoghie reports that Justice Obiora Egwuatu said the DSS has not given reasons to keep the applicants in custody.

The DSS alleges four of the 12 had high-level involvement in the act of arms stockpiling and other criminal activities.

In a ruling, Justice Obiora Egwuatu granted the 1st, 3rd, 4th, 7th, 8th, 9th, 10th and 11th applicants bail in the sum of N5million each by two sureties who must be residents of the FCT.

While for the other four which the DSS describes as key supporters of the Oduduwa Republic, Amudat Babatunde, Okoyemi Tajudeen, Abideen Shittu and Jamiu Noah Oyetunji, the bail was granted with the sum of N10million.

The bail conditions for the four also includes having two sureties who must be residents of the FCT one of whom must be in the federal civil service and not below grade level 12.

And these four applicants must report at the office of the DSS every first Monday for three months.

Olajengbesi told the media that there are no plans to have the court relax the seemingly stringent bail conditions even for the first eight whom the DSS had disclosed they had no criminal charges against.

The Court, by the ruling granting bail to the twelve, dismissed an application by the DSS seeking to renew the remand order by additional 14 days to allow further investigation.

Justice Egwuatu also ruled against an application by the counsel to the applicants, Pelumi Olajengbesi, seeking his clients be moved from DSS custody to those of the correctional services.
