The Delta State Police Command has arrested the state Commissioner for Secondary Education, Kingsley Ashibogwu, and three others in connection with the alleged murder of a deputy director in the ministry, Unity Adeda.
The arrests came about a week after an altercation involving aides to the commissioner reportedly led to Adeda’s death at a hospital.
The police spokesperson, Bright Edafe, disclosed this in a statement, adding that two other suspects remained at large.
They were identified as the Director of Basic and Secondary Education, Clementine Ufuoma, and the commissioner’s driver, Clement Apia.
The police said a manhunt was ongoing for the two suspects and urged them to report to the authorities without further delay.
The Commissioner of Police, Samuel Erale, said the investigation would be conducted thoroughly, impartially and professionally.
He assured the deceased’s family and members of the public that due process would be followed and anyone found culpable would be brought to justice in accordance with the law.
