This is contained in a statement issued by Col. Abubakar Abdullahi, Deputy Director, Army Public Relations, 1 Division Nigerian Army.
Abdullah said Wase spoke when the Acting Resident Electoral Commissioner (REC), Abba Yahaya, paid him a courtesy visit at the Division’s Headquarters.

He said the Army had acquired considerable experience over the years in supporting civil institutions, particularly in maintaining security during critical national activities.

The GOC assured INEC that the Army would provide outer-perimeter security during the elections while maintaining professionalism, neutrality and strict adherence to its constitutional responsibilities.

He further assured the commission that security arrangements had made all local government areas in the state accessible and safe for the conduct of elections.

Wase urged INEC to intensify voter education and ensure that its ad hoc staff were adequately briefed on the respective responsibilities of security agencies during the electoral process.

Earlier, Yahaya said the visit was part of the commission’s engagement with critical stakeholders in the state ahead of the elections.

He commended the existing working relationship between INEC and security agencies, particularly the Nigerian Army, and called for stronger collaboration to ensure a smooth electoral process.

Yahaya thanked the GOC for the warm reception and the Division’s commitment to supporting the commission during and beyond the election period.

Abdullahi said the visit was aimed at strengthening cooperation between INEC and the Nigerian Army ahead of the forthcoming elections.
