Army parades fake soldiers

The Nigerian Army has arrested and paraded two fake soldiers for impersonating after they were found to be carrying out illegal activities.

The two fake soldiers who hail from Edo and Kano States were arrested by officer and men of the 4 brigade in Benin –city.

Parading the two suspects and one accomplice before newsmen at the brigade headquarters in Benin, the 4 Brigade public relations officer, Captain Jonathan

Unuakhulu, said one of the two suspects, Ibrahim Useni, 21, from Kano state and Lucky Francis, 26, from Edo were caught in Edo state claded in Army uniform.

Captain Unuakhulu tagged the act as criminal and said they will be investigated before handing them over to the appropriate authority.

According to the public relations officer, one of the suspects was caught in army uniform at a mechanical village in Auchi after his vehicle broke down on his way out of Edo state. He was apprehended by a senior officer who handed him over to the brigade.

 During interview, Useni confessed that he was not a soldier but that the uniform belongs to his elder brother whom he lived with at 3 battalion barrack Warri. He said the brother now serving in the North East asked him to wash the uniform but chose to wear it before he was caught.

The other suspect, Lucky Francis, 26, from Edo was equally arrested after the victim he was to defraud suspected him and secretly called in soldiers who now arrested him in Benin, during interview with newsmen he confessed to the crime.

The suspects bare their minds on their activities and how they got the uniform while the other was found as accomplice in the vehicle of Useni.

The captain therefore advised civilians to desist from wearing military camouflage.
