Nigeria’s Ambassador to Sweden, Lola Akande, has formally begun her diplomatic mission to Denmark, with a call for stronger bilateral cooperation in climate action, security and sustainable development.
Akande presented her Letters of Credence to Denmark’s King Frederik X at Christiansborg Palace in Copenhagen on Thursday, marking the start of her diplomatic responsibilities in the country.
During an audience with the monarch, the ambassador conveyed President Bola Tinubu’s greetings and best wishes to the Danish king, the royal family, and the government and people of Denmark.
She reaffirmed Nigeria’s commitment to strengthening relations with Denmark and identified opportunities to expand cooperation in areas of shared interest.
Akande also commended King Frederik for his commitment to global sustainability and climate stewardship, highlighting climate action, peace and security, and sustainable development as areas for deeper engagement between the two countries.
She said Nigeria was ready to work with the Danish government, private sector and other stakeholders to broaden bilateral cooperation.
Akande is based in Stockholm, Sweden, where she serves as Nigeria’s ambassador, with concurrent accreditation to Denmark, Finland and Norway.
