Nollywood actress, Toyin Abraham, has denied joining the Lagos State All Progressives Congress (APC) campaign council after her name was included in the party’s structure for the 2027 elections.
Abraham was listed as a member of the Entertainment and Creative Economy Directorate unveiled by the Lagos APC on Thursday.
However, the actress said she had not accepted the appointment and was not participating in any campaign council.
In a statement on her Instagram Story, Abraham said, “I’m not a member of any campaign council. I have said it recently. I am staying out of politics. Please disregard the supposed inclusion of my name in any campaign committee.”
Her name appeared on a 33-member list of the directorate alongside actors and entertainers including Jide Kosoko, Eniola Badmus, Bimbo Akintola, Adebayo Salami, Saheed Balogun and Bukky Wright.
Fuji musicians Wasiu Alabi Pasuma, Obesere and Adewale Ayuba were also listed among the members.
The directorate is headed by Lagos Commissioner for Tourism, Arts and Culture, Toke Benson-Awoyinka, while Kosoko is listed as Co-Director and Badmus as Deputy Director.
Akeem Alimi, popularly known as Ajala Jalingo, is the Secretary, while Dare Olateju is listed as Assistant Secretary.
Other entertainers named include Yinka Quadri, Tayo Sobola, Fathia Balogun, Abiola Adebayo, Remi Oshodi, Foluke Daramola, Kikelomo Balogun, Bopo Oyekan Ismaila, Rasaq Yusuf, Aderinola Philips, Olamide Maja and Abbey Lanre.
Musicians listed include Sulaimon Alao Adekunle, popularly known as Malaika; Akorede Babatunde Okunola, known as Osupa; Temitope Adekunle, popularly known as Small Doctor; Sule Adiro Ataweye; Yemisi Falaye; Leke Babatunde Akinrowo; Kayode Fahm and Aruna Ishola.
The Lagos APC campaign council is scheduled for formal inauguration on Friday, September 18, at the party’s secretariat on ACME Road, Ikeja
Abraham’s rejection comes after her public involvement in the 2023 presidential election, when she supported President Bola Tinubu.
Despite that past involvement, she has now publicly stated that she intends to stay out of politics and asked the public to disregard her inclusion in the Lagos APC campaign structure.
