Nigerian Afrobeats star Tekno brought Nigeria’s Independence celebrations to London, delivering a high-energy performance for music lovers at Village Underground on Sunday.

The concert, held on October 4 as part of activities marking Nigeria’s 66th Independence anniversary, saw the singer perform a mix of established hits and songs from his latest projects.

Backed by a full band, Tekno moved through fan favourites including “Pana” and “Duro”, with the London audience singing along throughout the performance.

The show came months after the release of his eight-track album, Where Did Love Go?, in July, and the release of his latest single, “Atlanta”.

Tekno also performed newer material from the project, offering fans a taste of the latest phase of his career while revisiting songs that helped establish his reputation in the Afrobeats scene.

The event, sponsored by emPawa Africa and hosted by Mr A Star, brought together Nigerian music, culture and entertainment as part of the Independence weekend celebrations.

The strong reception from the London crowd also underscored the city’s importance as an international market for Afrobeats and African music.

Tekno’s performance formed part of a wider celebration of Nigeria’s cultural influence abroad, using music to connect Nigerians and other audiences during the country’s 66th Independence anniversary.

He closed the show to an enthusiastic crowd, combining some of his biggest hits with material from his latest releases.
