Big Brother Naija (BBNaija) Season 7 winner Phyna and entertainer Carter Efe each walked away with ₦50 million after emerging victorious in the headline celebrity boxing bouts staged in Lagos to mark Nigeria’s 66th Independence anniversary.

Carter Efe retained his “Chaos in the Ring” title after securing a referee-stoppage victory over rapper Speed Darlington, while Phyna knocked out Nollywood actress Nkechi Blessing in the fourth round of their scheduled four-round contest.

The bouts were held on Thursday at Balmoral Hall, Federal Palace Hotel, Victoria Island, as part of activities marking the Independence anniversary.

Carter dominated his contest against Speed Darlington, landing several punches before the referee stopped the fight after his opponent stopped responding.

The victory extended the entertainer’s unbeaten run in the celebrity boxing series. He had previously defeated singer Portable by unanimous decision in May.

Speaking after the fight, Carter said his partner, Taylor Jasmine, motivated him to victory.

“My woman, Taylor Jasmine. She’s the one that gave me the strength to win,” he said.

The entertainer also challenged foreign opponents, saying, “I want an international opponent. I am tired of Akpi Speed Darlington and Portable.”

He named American boxer and YouTuber DDG and former world champion Floyd Mayweather Jr as potential opponents.

Carter, whose real name is Darlington Okoye, added that he would not fight again until after his planned marriage to Taylor Jasmine.

Phyna, meanwhile, produced the night’s other major result by stopping Nkechi Blessing in the final round of the first women’s celebrity boxing bout under Balmoral Promotions’ “Chaos in the Ring” series.

The BBNaija winner used her movement and speed in the early stages as Nkechi Blessing attempted to close the distance.

Phyna eventually landed the decisive punch in the fourth round, sending the actress to the canvas. Blessing failed to beat the referee’s count, bringing the contest to an end.

In addition to the ₦50 million prize, Phyna received a championship belt and a new car.

Following her victory, Phyna challenged actress Etinosa Idemudia, who was at the venue. Etinosa accepted the challenge, potentially setting up another celebrity boxing contest.

The Phyna-Nkechi fight followed weeks of public exchanges between the two entertainers, which later developed into a boxing rivalry.

The event also featured a professional championship bout, with Ghanaian boxer Seth “Freezy Macbones” Gyimah defeating Nigerian Godday “Zodsolo” Appah by unanimous decision to win the WBO African Light Heavyweight Continental Championship.
