“I’m beyond grateful to God for this incredible partnership with MTN to bring you not 1, not 2, but 7 AMAZING MOVIES this Christmas!!!” she wrote.
She also teased audiences about the upcoming releases, saying, “You’re in for a thrilling ride, and I cannot wait to start unveiling!”
The announcement was made at an event attended by fellow entertainers, including BBNaija star Chimsom Chuka, with Christmas-themed movie posters visible in the background.
However, details of the films, including their titles, cast members, release dates and distribution platforms, have yet to be disclosed by Oboli or MTN.
The partnership comes as Oboli’s online entertainment platform, Omoni Oboli TV, continues to attract a growing audience. She launched the YouTube channel with her business partner, Tomi Adeoye, in December 2023, and it has since surpassed two million subscribers.
The collaboration also builds on Oboli’s extensive experience in Nollywood. She began acting in 1996 and has featured in more than 150 films, including The Figurine, Anchor Baby, Being Mrs Elliot and Fifty.
Her announcement comes amid growing interest among telecommunications companies in Africa’s entertainment market, although no details have been provided linking the seven-film project to MTN Group’s reported plans for a streaming platform.
With Christmas approaching, audiences are awaiting further information on how and where the seven films will be released.
