Nollywood actress Rachael Okonkwo has announced her engagement to businessman Chukwudi Onuorah, months after saying she wanted to build herself before settling down.
The 39-year-old actress shared the news in a video circulating on social media, showing her wearing an engagement ring and holding a bouquet of red roses at what appeared to be the venue of the proposal.
She was also heard referring to Onuorah as “my billionaire baby”.
Okonkwo has further indicated the development by adding the businessman’s name to her Instagram bio, which now reads, “Rachael Okonkwo Chukwudi Onuorah”.
The engagement comes about eight months after the actress spoke about her expectations in a relationship, saying she wanted a partner who was already established rather than one she would have to support financially.
In March, she said she was focused on personal growth before pursuing a relationship.
“The idea is to be purposeful before partnership. Where I’m coming from is very dark, so I’m not looking for a poverty-alleviation relationship. I want to find myself and be with a man who has also found himself,” she said.
Okonkwo began acting as a child but later ventured into dancing because of a lack of film roles. She returned to Nollywood and gained prominence in 2014 after playing the lead character, Nkoli, in Nkoli Nwa Nsukka.
Onuorah is reportedly from Enugu State and is said to be a widower with five children.
