Veteran Yoruba actor, Peter Fatomilola, has said he was not aware that actor Taiwo Hassan, a.k.a. Ogogo, was battling cancer before it was made public by his daughter.
Ogogo's daughter had taken to social media to seek help for her dad, who was suffering from Stage 4 cancer. The actor later succumbed to the illness shortly after the announcement. He has since been buried.
Speaking with African A-List, Fatomilola, who described Ogogo as a son, said he would have sought the advice of knowledgeable people had he known about the actor's predicament.
He said, “Taiwo Hassan, in the industry, he is like a son to me. Personally, I can’t say I heard that he had challenges.
“Until recently, when his child spoke out and made things public. Whatever is troubling a person, if it is kept under wraps, by the time it escalates beyond control…"
He added, “If we hear that something like this is happening to a person, which I am not aware of, I will inform those who are wiser or more knowledgeable than me.”
Fatomilola then spoke about losing his wife and how she passed away before he could complete their house.
“Out of all the things I have been pursuing in life that I wish to accomplish, only one thing is left, which my Lord God has not yet approved,” he said.
“ Myself and my most senior wife, Adawole, I said I wanted to build a house. I built it up to the level known as the lintel level. Then my wife passed away.”
