Niyi Akinmolayan’s film, Colours of Fire, has secured seven nominations at the 2026 Regal Film Festival Awards (REFFA), with recognition spanning major picture and technical categories.
The nominations include Best Picture, Editing, Cinematography, Production Design, Hair and Makeup, Visual Effects and Achievement in Soundtrack. The awards ceremony is scheduled to be held in Accra, Ghana, in December.
Produced by Anthill Studios, the film stars Uzor Arukwe and Osas Ighodaro. It follows a warrior sent to hunt a beast believed to have been unleashed by a rival clan, only to uncover a dark truth and an unexpected connection during his journey.
The latest recognition adds to the film’s awards profile following its outing at the 2026 Africa Magic Viewers’ Choice Awards, where Arukwe won Best Lead Actor.
While the AMVCA recognition included an acting award, Colours of Fire’s REFFA nominations are concentrated on picture-making and technical achievements, with no acting category listed among its seven nods.
The film explores identity, culture and family through the story of two opposing communities, the Blue and the Reds.
Akinmolayan had previously appealed humorously on social media for P-Square-related discussions to take a break so his film could attract attention online after its release.
“P Square Abeg na. Allow my film trend this weekend,” he wrote at the time, adding that the weekend should be reserved for Colours of Fire.
The REFFA nominations now give the production another opportunity for recognition as it competes against other films at the December ceremony.
