The Nigerian Electricity Regulatory Commission (NERC) disclosed this in its July 2026 Factsheet on the financial health and efficiency of the 11 Distribution Companies, released on September 24.
According to the regulator, the DisCos received electricity worth N333.94bn during the month but billed customers for N250.79bn, representing a billing efficiency of 75.10 per cent.
The companies subsequently collected N205.53bn from customers, translating to a collection efficiency of 81.95 per cent.
“Collection Efficiency: Recorded at 81.95%, resulting in a total revenue collection of ₦205.53bn for the month,” NERC stated.
The figures put the industry’s overall revenue recovery efficiency at 74.91 per cent for the month, highlighting the gap between electricity supplied, billed and ultimately paid for by consumers.
Among the DisCos, Eko Electricity Distribution Company recorded the highest recovery efficiency at 94.67 per cent in July. Port Harcourt DisCo followed with 84.95 per cent, while Benin DisCo recorded 79.15 per cent.
The latest figures provide an indication of the financial performance of the distribution segment of Nigeria’s electricity market, where the ability to convert electricity supplied into billed and collected revenue remains a key measure of operational efficiency.
NERC said the monthly factsheet was designed to provide stakeholders with information on the financial performance of the DisCos and developments in the Nigerian electricity supply industry.
