Osun State University (UNIOSUN), Osogbo, is set to graduate 4,357 students at its 16th convocation ceremonies, with the institution also presenting degrees to its first set of medical doctors.
The Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Odunayo Clement Adebooye, disclosed this during a pre-convocation briefing in Osogbo.
The graduating class comprises 3,845 first-degree graduates, 400 master’s graduates, 103 PhD graduates and nine postgraduate diploma recipients.
Among the undergraduate graduates, 88 students earned First-Class Honours, while 1,509 graduated with Second-Class Upper Division, 1,946 with Second-Class Lower Division, 220 with Third-Class Honours and three with Pass degrees.
A major highlight of the convocation is the graduation of UNIOSUN’s first set of 90 medical doctors from its Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS) programme.
The pioneer doctors were inducted by the Medical and Dental Council of Nigeria on August 12, 2026, and are scheduled to receive their degrees on Wednesday, September 23.
The university’s 16th convocation ceremonies began on September 18 and will run until September 24, 2026, at the main campus in Osogbo.
The Vice-Chancellor said the institution was also strengthening its academic programmes, research, industry partnerships and infrastructure, with increased emphasis on technology and innovation to prepare graduates for the changing demands of the global economy.
