The Federal University of Science and Technology (FUSTECH), Epe, Lagos State, has secured approval to admit up to 1,700 students into 34 undergraduate programmes for the 2026/2027 academic session.
The National Universities Commission (NUC) approved the programmes after a resource verification exercise to assess the university’s available academic staff and facilities.
The approval was conveyed in a letter dated October 23, 2026, signed on behalf of the NUC Executive Secretary, Prof Abdullahi Ribadu.
According to a statement made available on Monday, the commission approved a quota of 50 students for each programme, with admissions restricted to full-time study. The university must obtain separate approval before introducing part-time programmes.
The 34 courses are spread across five faculties: Computing and Informatics; Engineering; Allied Health Sciences; Management Sciences and Technology; and Science.
The approved computing programmes include Computer Science, Cyber Security, Artificial Intelligence, Data Science, Information and Communication Technology, and Software Engineering.
Engineering courses include Civil, Mechanical, Chemical, Petroleum, Biomedical, Environmental, Systems, Geomatics, Metallurgical and Electrical and Electronics Engineering.
The Faculty of Allied Health Sciences will offer Nursing Science, Physiotherapy, Occupational Therapy, Public Health, Health Information Management, Prosthetics and Orthotics, and Complementary and Alternative Medicines.
Approved programmes under Management Sciences and Technology are Business Information Technology, Entrepreneurship, Logistics and Supply Chain Management, and Transportation Management.
The Science faculty will offer Biotechnology, Forensic Science, Environmental Management and Toxicology, Marine Science, Medicinal Chemistry, Medical Physics, and Nuclear Science.
The Vice-Chancellor, Prof Kazeem Adeola Oshikoya, said the university was ready to begin its inaugural admission process following the approval.
Established in November 2025, FUSTECH currently shares some facilities and infrastructure at the Epe campus of Lagos State University as it prepares to move to its permanent site.
LASU said in August that the arrangement was temporary and intended to support the smooth take-off of the new federal university while both institutions worked together.
