We are committed to our election promises - President Buhari

President Mohammadu Buhari has assured Nigerians that his administration is working hard to overcome the economic challenges facing the Nation, as his administration is handling the challenges the way it handled the problems of insecurity and corruption.


 

The President gave this assurance during the formal launching of the Nation’s Economic recovery and growth plan which was held at the council chamber of the presidential villa in Abuja.

The President reinstated that his administration remains committed to the social contract it entered with the Nigerian people during the electioneering period, adding the that the federal government is making efforts to reposition the country from an import dependent nation to a producing country that can be self reliant.

President Buhari urged Nigerians to support the economic recovery and growth plan which according to him captures the government’s template for reviving the economy

Also present at the launching of the economic development plan was the Minister of budget and national planning Udoma Udo Udoma. He said the objectives of the economic recovery plan include restoring the growth of human capital development and building a competitive economy.

Minister udoma also pointed out that the Document articulates over sixty intervention initiative that will be implemented in the next four years.

Udoma expressed optimism that unlike other documents in the past, the newly launched economic plan will be effectively implemented.

Before unveiling the documents, President Buhari called on state governors to draw inspiration from the document to articulate their economic programmes.

On their parts, the Senate President, Bukola Saraki and Speaker of House of Representatives Yakubu Dogara promised to support the implementation of the economic plan proposed by the President.
