Nasarawa State Governor, Abdullahi Sule, has used the 81st United Nations General Assembly in New York to woo global investors, highlighting the state’s rich deposits of lithium, baryte and other critical minerals.
Sule said his administration was committed to creating opportunities for international investment, particularly in the solid minerals sector and other areas of mutual economic interest.
The governor spoke with journalists in New York after an event where he briefed Vice President Kashim Shettima on Nigeria’s participation in the ongoing UN General Assembly.
According to Sule, Nasarawa’s abundance of critical minerals places the state in a strong position to attract international investors, boost economic growth and create jobs for its people.
Speaking alongside Kebbi State Governor Nasir Idris, Sule said both states could play an important role in Nigeria’s economic diplomacy efforts by showcasing their mineral resources to the global community.
He said his participation at UNGA was aimed at promoting Nasarawa State internationally, attracting fresh investments and creating new economic opportunities for residents.
Sule also called for stronger collaboration between Africa and the Caribbean to address shared development challenges, including climate change, sustainable infrastructure and access to innovative financing.
Vice President Shettima is leading Nigeria’s delegation to the 81st UN General Assembly after President Bola Tinubu delegated him to represent the country.
The UNGA General Debate is holding from September 22 to 28, 2026, under the theme, “Restoring trust, managing transformation: A United Nations that delivers for all.”
