Following the launch of the Nigerian Navy anti-piracy operation in the Delta territorial waters, the operatives have uncovered 40 illegal refineries at Jones creeks in Warri South west local government area of Delta state.

The operation which was led by the commander, commodore ibrahim dewu, also led to the discovery of over a million metric tonnes of substance suspected to be illegally refined crude oil.

The Navy commander promised to keep to the mandate of the Chief of Naval Staff, Vice Admiral Ibok ete-ibas, while commending the synergy with other security operatives.

Meanwhile, the breakthrough in the operation was the arrest of three suspected oil thieves by the commander in the creeks, while their operational pumping machines were also seized.

Chief of Naval Staff launched an anti-piracy operation to check criminal activities in the creeks, and this is already paying off with the biggest discovery in over a year
