The Nigerian Navy has uncovered three illegal refining sites containing about 98,000 litres of suspected stolen petroleum products in Okarki community, Ahoada West Local Government Area of Rivers State.

The operation, conducted by the Nigerian Navy Ship Pathfinder under Operation Delta Sentinel, led to the discovery of 65,000 litres of suspected stolen crude oil and 33,000 litres of illegally refined Automotive Gas Oil (AGO), commonly known as diesel.

The Navy said the discovery exposed the scale of illegal petroleum storage in the area and the risk of the products entering unlawful distribution networks.

It added that the operation disrupted storage activities at three locations and denied suspected oil thieves access to substantial quantities of petroleum products for illegal handling and sale.

The Navy reaffirmed its commitment to sustaining intelligence-led patrols and operations to identify illegal refining facilities and disrupt the storage and movement of suspected stolen petroleum products.

It also pledged to support efforts to bring those responsible to justice in accordance with the law.
