Bi-Courtney Aviation Services Limited, operator of Murtala Muhammed Airport Terminal Two in Lagos, has intensified work on facilities for regional flight operations following the settlement of its long-running concession dispute with the Federal Government.

The company said it was preparing to meet the requirements outlined in the settlement agreement, with its chairman, Dr Wale Babalakin, inspecting key facilities on Thursday.

A statement by BASL’s Head of Corporate Communications, Ajoke Yinka-Olawuyi, said the inspection covered the regional arrivals area, apron extension and access gate for staff and concessionaires.

During the tour, the company’s Acting Chief Operating Officer, Remi Jibodu, briefed Babalakin on progress made and the operational arrangements for the planned regional services.

Babalakin congratulated the team on the progress recorded and urged it to maintain the pace of work to ensure the facilities were ready within the stipulated timeline.

He also stressed the need for coordination with relevant government agencies and regulators, particularly the Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority, to secure all necessary inspections, assessments and approvals before flights commence.

The chairman further urged the team to prioritise finishing, safety standards, operational readiness and stakeholder coordination.

Jibodu reaffirmed the company’s commitment to meeting the deadline, saying efforts would be intensified to complete outstanding work and operational preparations.

“We will strengthen engagement with relevant agencies and regulatory authorities to ensure that all required inspections and approvals are completed before the commencement of regional flights,” he said.

BASL’s Acting Chief Executive Officer, Idunnu Oyebolu, said the company was also preparing for increased passenger traffic during the year-end travel season.

She said the operator was working to ensure its facilities, personnel and processes were ready to provide safe, seamless and efficient passenger services.

Oyebolu added that BASL remained focused on maintaining service standards while positioning MMA2 to accommodate the anticipated growth in operations.
