Bandits Kill 9, Injure 11 in Fresh Onslaught In Kaduna

Bandits unleashed mayhem in Angwan Magaji community, Kamaru Ward, Kauru LGA, Kaduna State, in fresh hostility in the early hours of Wednesday. The renewed hostilities which occurred at about 1:00a.m. left at least nine people dead and 11 others injured,. The incident deepened fears of insecurity along the Kaduna–Plateau border.

According to Joseph Chudu Yonkpa, National Publicity Secretary of the Irigwe Youth Movement, the assailants opened fire indiscriminately on residents. Most victims were Irigwe people, originally, from Bassa LGA, Plateau State. Among the dead were children as young as 4, 5, and 6 years old.

The deceased were identified as Jerry Doctor, 51; Danlami Magani, 49; Sunday Chibi, 53; Rita Abdullahi, 45; Sunday Elkan, 5; Esther Kefas, 5; Happy Friday, 6; Moses Daddy, 4; and Daddy Ibrahim, 28. Eleven injured survivors are now receiving medical treatment.

Danjuma Dickson Auta, National Secretary of the Irigwe Development Association, confirmed the attack and called it tragic and unacceptable. He said repeated assaults in the area have left communities traumatized and unsafe.

Auta urged security agencies to investigate the killings urgently and bring the perpetrators to justice. He also appealed for more security presence to protect vulnerable border communities that keep coming under attack.

The Irigwe Development Association further asked the government to intervene swiftly to restore confidence and prevent more violence. For residents of Angwan Magaji and nearby towns, the demand is simple: safety and an end to the cycle of bloodshed.
