WAEC Releases Results for SSCE Private Candidates

The West African Examinations Council (WAEC) has officially announced the results of The West African Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE) for private candidates, 2020-second series.

The conduct of the examination took place between Monday, November 23rd 2020 and December 22nd 2020.

A total of 66,375 candidates representing a 31.63% decline, registered for the examination while 61,509 candidates actually sat for the examination at 540 centres nationwide.

This, according to the head of the Nigeria national office of WAEC Patrick Areghan could be attributed to the negative impact of the COVID-19 pandemic.

While speaking with newsmen at the WAEC national office, Yaba, he also revealed that out of the total number of candidates, 30,507 were males, while 31, 002 were females.

61,111 candidates have their results fully released, and 398 are still being processed. He assured that efforts were underway to enable all the affected candidates get their results fully processed and released.

Areghan was also proud to announce that no stakeholder contracted Coronavirus during the period of the examination, noting a marginal increase of 4.72percent in performance. Meanwhile, cases of examination malpractice are being investigated.
