Tyre dealers express mixed reactions

As the Federal Roads Safety Corps (FRSC), Warri unit commences the clampdown on commercial vehicles using expired and used tyres, dealers of tyres have expressed mixed feelings over the decision of the commission taking into consideration the state of the economy.

Speaking on the issue, the chairman, Warri tyre dealers association and a dealer spoke on the need for government regulation and the economy.

Some motor parts dealers, who spoke, commended the gesture by the roads safety commission but lamented the effect on the poor.

It will be recalled that the Federal Roads Safety Corps coordinator Warri unit, Dickson Amromarhe had issued a two months ultimatum which expired today, for commercial drivers to replace expired tyres in preventing accident during the yuletide.
